While odd compared to most other FE block types, it wouldn't be special unless missing oil galley plugs, or does have side-oil passages, or main cap cross-bolts or bosses, etc. I was told that some of the FE family were stamped with a 352 when they were really 390, 360, 428, etc. The air breather is stamped 390 with a 4 barrel intake. The motor came out of a 1966 Thunderbird. There are about 40 different casting numbers for FE blocks. I think '41' is a batch number, and 'DIF' is Dearborn Iron Foundry. Did any 390 motors have 352 stamped on them The motor has a 4 1/8' bore and a 3 7/8' stroke. The FE only ran from 1958 to 1970 in cars and until 1976 in trucks. if it starts with a Number like (5751091 or B9AE-B it is a 58-59 332), a C =60's the second number is the year of the block casting example ( C3AE-KY is a 63 police w/ solid lifters), D = 70's example (D3TE-AC is 73-76 360/390 truck block with reinforced webbing at the Mains) Post the casting numbers and I'll decipher it. There is also a casting number in the valley area under the intake manifold. the date code is under the block on the drivers side in front by the oil pan. While odd compared to most other FE block types, it wouldnt be special unless missing oil galley plugs, or does have side-oil passages, or main cap cross-bolts or bosses, etc. The casting number is on the passenger side of the block in front of the motor mount and freeze plug. I think '41' is a batch number, and 'DIF' is Dearborn Iron Foundry. I agree, the 0.040' pistons (or possibly the rods) must. The long stroke 428 (and 410) was the only externally balanced FE, but with the 3.98' stroke it is easy to identify the difference. That is a 390 crank and as such is internally balanced. Car was then used in parades only due to interceptor not available to general public for street. 'the stroke measures just under 3.8' - that is all you need to know. Engine was advertised as an interceptor installed by first owner who was a ford dealer. Fits all Ford FE type blocks, 352, 390, 406. Have found -B in casting charts but no P. The Edelbrock 2036 RPM Dual-Quad manifold and carb kit is designed for 390-428 Big-Block Ford FE applications. Find the casting numbers and I can tell which block it is! Is the intake manifold part way under the valve covers? On the front of the block is there a casting of 352 or a reverse casting of 105? even if it is cast 352 it doesn't mean it is a 352, coud be a 360,390,406,410,428,427 ect. Tearing down a 390 in a 66 galaxie we are being back to life.
